Of course, everyone’s curls and hair texture are different, so your mileage may vary. That’s why one of your tasks is to find a curly hair specialist! He or she is the one to consult about issues specific to your hair type.
Avoid using heat stylers which can damage your curl pattern.

Does this look familiar? If you’re a fan of Frozen, you’ll recognize Elsa’s gorgeous fishtail braid.
It’s not as difficult to recreate as it might look. Hairstyle maven Lilith Moon has made a tutorial showing you just how to do it.
In addition to the updo, Moon demonstrates a half up/half down style and a sexy, messy fishtail plait.
And don’t worry if your hair isn’t what Moon calls “mermaid hair” — in other words, long. She uses clip-on extensions to get length and volume.

Head lice that have mutated to resist the chemicals in over-the-counter treatments have been found across the country.
Dr. Kyong Yoon, a researcher at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and his team studied lice from around the U.S. and found that the vast majority had gene mutations that desensitized the creepy crawlies’ nervous system from permethrin-based insecticides, which are found in over-the-counter lice treatments.
These lice can still be controlled with prescription treatments that contain different chemicals.
“If you use a chemical over and over, these little creatures will eventually develop resistance,” Yoon explains. “So we have to think before we use a treatment.”
Natural Head Lice Treatment
Fortunately, head lice are not dangerous as they do not carry any disease. But they certainly are a nuisance! There are natural ways to get rid of lice without resorting to chemicals. Methods include smothering the creatures with heavy oil-based products such as coconut oil or petroleum jelly, or combing the child’s hair with a louse come every day for at least two weeks after you see a live one.
Are Harder-to-Kill Head Lice Near You?
Half of the states in the union have been found to have these super lice, but it’s possible that many more are affected. The researchers gathered samples from 30 states and of them 25, or 83%, had resistant lice. If that percentage holds true, 16 or so of the remaining 20 states could also have these resistant lice. In the graphic by Dr. Yoon below, the states colored pink are the ones with super lice.
In the remaining five states included in the study, New York, New Jersey, New Mexico, and Oregon contained lice populations with some gene mutations.
Michigan was the only state of the 30 where the lice were not found to be resistant.
