Curly Hair Growth By The Numbers

By Olivia |

Trying to grow your hair faster can be an exercise in frustration. This is particularly true if your hair is curly — its progress simply isn’t as visible as it is in people with straight strands. And the tighter your curl, the longer it takes for growth to show.

It’s enough to make you want to scream.

But let’s not do that. 🙂

Instead, check out this chart by Naturally Curly, which will help you gauge the growth of your curly hair and also offers some great tips for helping it grow faster.

Hair Expert Gwen Jimmere Makes History!

By Mandi |

She’s The First Black Woman To Hold A Patent For Natural Hair Care Product

Gwen Jimmere is the CEO and Founder of Naturalicious. She created the product line in her kitchen and in two short years catapulted it onto the shelves of major retailers.

She is also a mommy. In fact, she says her young son is the reason she started Naturalicious.

When Gwen went natural, it could take up to four hours to do her hair on wash day. After her son was born, she realized she couldn’t spend that kind of time on her hair. She whittled the process down to an hour and her OooLaLocks system was born.

Gwen holds a utility patent for Moroccan Rhassoul 5-in-1 Clay Treatment. The process of getting a patent was “super intimidating,” she admits, and expensive. She saved by doing it on her own without the guidance of an attorney, but it took months and months of research to just finish the application. Then she had to wait another 15 months before receiving the good news that her patent had been approved.

Prior to launching Naturalicious, Gwen was the marketing manager for Ford Motor Company. She also shared her hair expertise online, where she wrote about topics ranging from the anatomy of hair, deep conditioning basics and getting through a hair growth plateau to going natural and using an apple cider vinegar rinse to revive lifeless hair.

Now in addition to running her fast-growing hair care company, she is also a “pitch architect,” business strategist, keynote speaker and best-selling author. Learn more about this amazing beauty boss at
