How to Grow Hair Faster Home Remedies

By Olivia |

You want to know how to grow hair faster and if you can do it naturally. For many people, the answer is yes. Over the centuries, home remedies have been devised and used to accelerate hair growth. While experts may pooh-pooh the claim that it is possible to make hair grow faster, these remedies have survived through time because they work. For some people.

Realize that not everything works for everyone. There are many factors of hair growth. The only way to know what is going to work for you – wonderful you with your individual genes, health history, lifestyle, etc. — is to try it out and give a hair growth remedy time to work, or not. But think about this – drugs approved by the FDA are not effective in every person who has the condition the drug is meant to treat. Not even close. And drugs approved by the FDA are not necessarily safe, either. Remember Fen-phen, Vioxx and Avandia, just to name a few? These and a host of other FDA-approved drugs were pulled from the market after they caused unexpected and sometimes deadly side effects. But I digress. This is a very long way of saying that nothing is a sure thing, ever, and you should always use caution and consult a doctor when trying any home remedy.

How to Grow Hair Faster Home Remedies

Use an apple cider vinegar treatment. Make a rinse with non-pasteurize ACV — Bragg’s is a good brand that is widely available — and water. Massage it into the scalp after shampooing, leave in for a minute or so, then rinse.

Deep treat with olive oil. Warm up a little olive oil and rub into your scalp. You can leave it on for an hour or overnight (use a shower cap to protect your bed linens). Wash out with a gentle shampoo.

Deep treat with coconut oil. Same as above. Almond oil and grapeseed oils are other good choices, but they’re more expensive and not as easy to find.

Use essential oils. Try essential oils such as basil, lavender and rosemary. Mix with your preferred oil as per their instructions. Essentials oils are too harsh on skin to use undiluted.

Get an aloe vera plant. Not only is the fresh pulp from the inside of a leaf great for treating burns and cuts, it is said to help grow hair faster and healthier.

Increase blood flow to the scalp. Massage is an effective way to bring more blood to the area. You can also try hanging your head upside down, off a bed, for example, for a few minutes. (Get up slowly; this might make you a little dizzy.)

Add minced onion to your shampoo. Let it soak up the onions for two weeks, then use regularly. As a bonus, this natural remedy for growing hair faster imparts a wicked shine.

An Ayurvedic hair growth remedy is to make a mixture of 3 parts castor oil to 1 part wheat germ (3 tsp of castor oil and 1 tsp of wheat germ, for example). Wet hair, massage into your scalp and leave in for 20 minutes before washing out.

Another Ayurvedic favorite is neem. Use neem oil for hair by massaging several drops into the scalp. Recent studies suggest neem may be as effective as other hair growth products such as minoxidil.

Eat vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables. Like your body healthy, fast-growing hair needs top-grade fuel. Food is the best way to get nutrients, but because most of us don’t eat enough healthy foods, boost your diet with vitamins and minerals such as biotin for hair loss.

We’ll be back with more how to grow hair faster remedies soon. Stay tuned.

    Hi Bindu,

First, congratulations on your upcoming wedding! But please don’t panic. It is normal to lose 100 – 150 strands per day, so it sounds as if you’re doing fine. Making hair grow faster actually takes time to see results, so at this point you should focus on the condition of your hair for your big day.

Using neem oil for hair can certainly help with dryness. My mom is using this one to regrow eyebrows and she’s very happy with the results so far. What’s nice about this one is it contains other nourishing and aromatic oils and smells pretty good. (Plain neem oil is kinda smelly.)

Massage some neem oil into the scalp, using a circular motion, starting at your hairline and working your way to the nape of your neck. Then run your fingers through your hair. Apply more neem oil to the ends, or all over if your hair is very dry or damaged all over. Leave on overnight and wash out the next day. Try this twice a week at first and then once a week when you see the condition of your hair improve.

    Best of luck!

Hi! i’ve tried many of these remedies and i can’t tell if they’ve really worked. what i do is mix honey, lemon, mayo, egg, olive oil, avocado, youghurt together (that is if i have them all. if i dont, i just make do with what i have) i leave it in my hair for about 45 min or so and wash it out with shampoo etc. i don’t see a difference to re-vitalising or shine or anything. what specific fruits and vegies are good for growth?

I’ve used what this artile says. I do notice regrowth as I observe the change with a magnifying glass. Hair growth is a slow process. You might have hair growth but you cannot see it with the naked eye. Some of my growth, very tiny minuscule hairs, started 2 years ago and seem to never grow but they are growing now. It’s been 2 years and now suddenly I see my follicles opening up and more and more haor growth. I believ 6 months from now, it will be noticeable. Be patient because these natural products work. Remember to keep your hair clean and shampoo it gently with a non-aggressive shampoo. I am 59 years old so if you’re younger, you may get results faster. I’ve used all kinds of stuff and I am not sure what is responsibel for my tiny haor growth. Onions, garlic, neem oil all stink but they do work. Be patient, patience will reward you.
