When considering having some sort of permanent hair removal done to eliminate unwanted fuzz on the face or body, price certainly is a factor in making the decision that is best for you. After all, hair removal cost can run into the thousands of dollars.
Here are some current figures, but remember that your cost will depend on where you live (big cities and coastal areas tend to run higher), the specialist you choose, the size of the area to be treated, the density of hair in the area, your hair growth and more. You won’t actually know how much hair removal cost will be until you are done. In fact, some experts say that if you go for a consultation and the technician tells you that you will need x number of sessions, you should just go somewhere else because it is absolutely impossible to tell how many you will need. The best anyone can do is give you an educated estimate.
Given that, if you choose any of the permanent hair removal options below, here’s what you can expect per session.
Electrolysis hair removal cost – Electrolysis can cost $40 to $60 for a 15 minute session. An hour session can cost $100 to $150. But these prices can go higher, and since electrolysis is a long, tedious process, the costs can add up very quickly.
Laser hair removal cost – There are a number of different types of laser hair removal options, but in general a 15 minute session – enough time to treat a small area like the chin – will run you about $80 to $100. Hands, feet and underarms cost more, up to $275 a session. Upper back costs in the $400 – $500 range, and thighs $600 and up. Expect to pay between $350 to $500 per session for the bikini area. Note that you may come across several different pricing structures such as flat fee, price per hour or price per pulse (with a minimum fee per area).
Flashlamp / IPL hair removal cost – For the face, price can range from $150 to $500 a session. For the chest area, it can cost anywhere from $250 to $1,000 a session.
Many clinics or doctors will offer package discounts if you elect to get, say, a package of 10 sessions, your cost per session will be less than buying it one at a time, so that is one way to reduce your hair removal cost.
